When I'm not in the therapy office, you can find me enjoying a coffee with a friend or a good memoir, eating my way through the Asheville restaurant scene with my husband, or exploring the WNC rivers with my 3 girls and our golden Oakley.
I have always been an observer of relationships and people. When introduced to systems theory in graduate school, I understood the lens I had been using to view those relationships. It is never simple or one-sided. We all have to capacity to connect and disconnect from ourselves and one another. Being in a 16-year marriage myself, I've experienced the negative cycles that can color your whole world gray. When you are swept up in a negative cycle, it is a lonely, exhausting place.
I even have the audacity to believe that when we feel most broken in our relationships, we are often at the precipice of an opportunity to build a more vibrant, intimate connection than we have ever experienced. It is a deep privilege and honor to be a guide who can witness the distress each partner is experiencing, discover the well-worn path that keeps you stuck, and support your relationship in forging a new way forward.
Your pain matters and deserves to be held with deep compassion. Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is research-based model which creates a safe environment to talk about the hard things and begin to risk again so that you can move towards a freer, more grounded way of being.
As a white, cis-gender, straight, able-bodied, privileged female, I take responsibility for committing to education and growth both personally and professionally. I strive to cultivate a space where people can embrace their most basic attachment needs without fear of persecution or marginalization as a result of race, religion, ethnic/national origin, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, class, mental health, or disability.
